This past Wednesday night we hosted our first GroupLife event at Harrah Church called Not a Fan. We had a crowd of people together discussing where they are at in their relationship with Jesus. Author Kyle Idleman, challenged us to “define our relationship” and discuss what it is like, the high and low points in our life and our spiritual journey. I had the chance to sit at several tables and was amazed to hear so many different stories from our church about what God has helped some people through and how He is currently working in the lives of some.

I want to highlight a point made by several men who have recently decided to follow Jesus completely. These guys come from various backgrounds but they both said that their new commitment has brought not just a new outlook on life but an overall excitement to life that they haven’t remembered having in a long time.

Easter shows us that Someone had to die so man could live. Check out this great challenge for Harrah Church from Will Mancini called Death Before Multiplication. I read Mancini’s post each week and am challenged in how we move forward in our mission to develop people in Christ through community, communion and compassion.

Invest and Invite

There’s three seasons of college football in Oklahoma…. Spring practice, the fall regular season, and Recruiting Season! Last week, colleges all over the country signed freshmen to letters of intent. Colleges have great facilities and awesome coaches that are talented recruiters. But the best recruiters are not the coaches. The best recruiters are the players! Players recruit Players!

A core value of our church is to Invest & Invite. God gave us the gift of recruiting others to join His team. Jesus said there are plenty of people ready to be “harvested”….but the laborers (recruiters) are few!

I have made my own personal “Blue Chip” recruit list……people that I’m investing in on a regular basis….people that I’m in contact with….. that I’m actively praying and investing in. I’m going to leverage our church by inviting them to a service or an event at HC.

Invest and Invite

I hope that you have been praying this week about who God would have you invite to church this weekend. I know that God used several people to get me through the doors and I believe that he wants to use you to help change someone forever. Invest some time this week inviting people to join you at church this weekend.

Our weekend services are at 8:30, 10:00 and 11:15am. See you this Sunday.

Exponential Sermon Series

A few years back, I sat down with a financial planner and he showed me the power of compounding interest. I learned that a small amount of money invested could have a large return! How true that principle is in God’s spiritual economy! This Sunday, January 8, I will begin a new series called “Exponential”…The Power of a Compounding LIfe. In this powerful and practical teaching series, we’ll examine a few of the “minor“characters in scripture who had a major impact in the world and how we can do the same thing in our world today…individually and together in with others in our church. God has created us for significance…to make a difference in our world. You will be challenged to live an exponential life by living missionally, serving others, taking responsibility for your spiritual growth, giving faithfully and reaching your friends for Jesus Christ.

GroupLink Event

Are you a part of a small group community that is challenging you to become a better follower of Christ and a better person in general? Sunday, January 22nd we will be holding an event we call GroupLink. This event is designed to help you connect with our new small group leaders and others who are looking for a small group community.

GroupLink will take place after the 2nd and 3rd Service in the Foyer. Our small group leaders will have tables set up where you can get information and connect with other small group members.

I honestly believe that in a war for your family and all the things that battle against you and your family, one of the best things that you can do is surround yourself with brothers and sisters in Christ who can pray for you, help you, encourage you and provide positive influences.

This Saturday at 4:30pm is our Christmas Eve Service and Sunday we will have ONE service at 10:00am. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join you this weekend.

Tickets for the December 29th Brennin Hunt concert will be available in the lobby at both services and online at the Harrah Church EventBrite Site. The concert is at 7:30pm.

This Week at Harrah Church – December 5, 2012

What a great weekend we spent with the folks from Children’s Hopechest. So many lives were changed this weekend. I hope you had the opportunity to sponsor a child. I cant wait to hear stories of how God uses this experience to not only change Wera, Uganda, but to change the people here at Harrah Church who participate.

This next weekend we want to invite you to join us after church for the Annual Church Business Meeting. We will present and vote on the 2012 Budget and a few other items of business.

That evening at 6:00pm is the 1st Annual Crock and Roll Potluck. There will be tables for your crockpots and covered dishes. We will play some games and hang out. It is going to be a great time. I want to see all of you there and I want you to bring a friend…and some cookies.
