What will a week look like?
There are a lot of variations depending on your ministry area, job situation, and other scheduling dynamics.
There are a lot of variations depending on your ministry area, job situation, and other scheduling dynamics. However, here’s brief sketch:
Sundays: All Protégés serve 6-8 hours either in their specific ministry areas or Sunday Production Team or Host Team responsibilities.
Mondays: Could be an Office Day or a work day for proteges who work a part-time job — An office day may include following up with guests from Harrah Church on Sunday, organizing your week, finishing schoolwork, emailing, etc. Protégés can come to the Harrah Church Offices and interact with paid staff and other volunteer leaders.
Tuesdays: Class Day – There are 1-2 classes on Tuesdays (could also be a work day)
Wednesdays: Protégé Focus Day – Weekly meetings with the Protégé Director, Jeremy Davidson. Proteges attend weekly Learning Labs/small group discussions, and may also meet one-on-one with mentors or coaches.
Thursdays: Could be a work day for those working a part-time job; Or could be a ministry day for meetings, one on ones, preparing talks, organizing events, etc.
Fridays: Sabbath – We encourage Protégés to take Friday or Saturday as their Sabbath
Saturdays: Off unless there is an event like Eggstravaganza, FX or Amp in the Park.
Evenings: There are usually a couple evenings where stuff is going on (small groups, leadership team meetings, ministries or events done on college or high school campuses, etc.)
*We try to accommodate those protégés who work outside jobs, and allow proteges to work up to 25 hours per week (jobs may include Substitute Teaching, UPS, Starbucks, or other jobs related to a protege’s job skills or networking opportunities, etc.)
What are the costs involved?
As for costs, you will need cover the cost of food, gas (if you have a car), insurance and entertainment. As we stated earlier, you may need to work a part-time job in order to raise those funds. We will walk through your expenses in detail with you during the application process, as we want every intern to be thoroughly prepared with a clear financial plan for their time with Protégé.
Protege’s are required to purchase books, CDs and small group materials for their Leadership Labs and Small Groups. Usually around $75 per Quarter. Reading & Study List
You can raise funds (like missionaries do) in order to cover costs, books, food, gas and other expenses. If needed, we will work out an arrangement so that people donating funds to you can do so through the non-profit status of our church. We will talk with you further about raising funds if you want to pursue this as a possibility.
